Pregnancy Shared Care

Pregnancy shared care (antenatal care) is recommended to prevent potential problems during pregnancy. Your GP checks your health and the health of your baby to determine if extra care is needed.

Antenatal care can include screening for congenital conditions and obstetric ultrasounds when needed. Your GP is also there to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

What is Antenatal Shared Care ?

Multiple health professionals can be involved in pregnancy care – this is called antenatal shared care. Often, antenatal shared care is between a trained GP and a hospital. Antenatal shared care gives you the flexibility and more continuous care as it allows you to speak to a GP close by.
